Ridgway’s early life:

Ridgway was born on February 18th in the year of 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Gary Ridgway was the middle son of Mary Rita Steinman and Thomas Newton Ridgway. When Gary reached the age of 11 years old, he confessed to being sexually attracted to his own mother, this plays a large role in his sexual issues as he gets older.

The family moved from Utah to Washington state, Ridgway showed in his actions that he was not accepting the move very well. Gary started doing really badly in school, he was a very poor student and had a below-average IQ of 82 followed by dyslexia and possibly other learning disabilities.

Most of his teenage years were normal and unprecedented until the year he turned 16. At 16 years old, he led a 6 -year-old boy into the woods and stabbed him violently. The boy survived and told authorities that Gary walked away laughing.

Gary’s First Wife:

In 1969, Ridgway was 20 years old and just out of high school, he decided to join the Navy rather than be drafted and ended up marrying his steady girlfriend of the time Claudia Borrows, before leaving for Vietnam.

Ridgway obviously had some psychiatric issues and this contributed to the sex addiction he displayed. Once he was in Vietnam, he accompanied multiple prostitutes a day and his relationship and marriage with his wife were fading faster each day. Claudia on the other hand started dating and soon broke off the marriage as fast as it was established. In less than a year the two were divorced and mutually happy some say.

Gary’s Second Wife:

In 1973, Marcia Winslow and Gary married, soon after that, she became pregnant with a son.

As this marriage went forward, Gary Ridgway became strict with religion. He studied aloud at home and became a fanatic, even going door to door and preaching himself. He insisted that Marcia followed every rule given by their preacher and those rules were very strict.
